Emilie Conrad began her inquiry in the early 1970’s fueled by a passionate desire to discover that most essential innerstanding – what am I? Her language was movement, breath and sound/vibration, inspired by what she witnessed in Haitian ritual trance. She knew intuitively that her existential questions could not be answered through rational or analytical means. Only direct experience through the body could touch the essence of what it means to be human and the body talks in movement, breath and sound.

We have over 53 trillion atoms in our body, winking in and out every millionth of a second. We are here, not here. These atoms form the architecture of our cells, the carriers of mitochondria, each one containing the ultraviolet light of stars. We are not made of star dust – we are made of starlight - starlight contained in water, conducted by water. We are a miracle of illumination, a radiance suspended in a field of flesh, each breath infusing precious oxygen into our continuous manifestation, moment by moment by moment.

Continuum, a practice of consciousness, of presence. Breath by breath, we drop attention deeper into felt sensation. A wave of sound/vibration oscillates the cellular sea of our inner ocean. Ripples of impulse spread through fluids, tissues. We are an undulating creature of unknown origins. Our imagination blossoms in visions of remembrance as we spiral in slow, sensual gestures of pure embodied pleasure. This body sings with movement. This body hums with resonant joy. This body loves. This body is Love.

This April, I invite you to join me for five days of inner exploration into the voltage of presence, our ultraviolet starlight, our cellular radiance. Inspired by revelations of our most current scientific discoveries and ancienti ndigenous wisdom, I will craft a journey of movement and sound to carry us inward. Inside the body we find a cosmos, an infinite realm where presence abides. Here, we meet ourselves, pure and true, a wonder to behold, a song waiting to be heard.

The story of evolution is our story, our inheritance, our destiny. Out of the mysterious and intelligent fabric of existence, sentient life takes form in the sea. A single cell metamorphosizes over eons into a myriad of possibilities— fish, whale, dinosaur, eagle, human. Our origins are elemental and cosmic. We are both Earth and Stars, a sublime and masterful incarnational process in constant flux and flame.

Held on the island of Ocracoke, one of the most remote islands in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, we are surrounded and supported by the elements of earth, sea and sky. In this extraordinary natural setting, through the ancient body wisdom-gifts of movement, sound, breath and beholding, we will reenact our primordial unfolding from the sea to land.

For five mornings, we rise before dawn and gather on the beach to participate in an experiential inquiry and creative exploration of discovery. Set during the week of the new moon, the inky black of our celestial vault is strewn with Milky Way wonders and stars rising over the dark sea. Through ritual, we engage with the greater mystery, with the vastness and powers of our elemental nature. We plumb the depths of self that live beyond words and ignite the soul fire of being alive. Silence held within our group of souls fosters interior cosmos communing. Against the ocean’s expansive backdrop, we open to our essential nature and true origins.

"The heavens are panther black and the swirl of the Milky Way spreads out above you. A light wind brings the song of Poseidon to you, and you walk between full slumbering dunes and out onto a primordial barrier island beach 16 miles out from the continent. The vast ineffable ocean flows into you. Your breath slows and your lungs fill with that ocean air. You remember something. You move towards the shore and a small encampment of kindred souls. As far as you can see down the beach in both directions, there are no other beings besides sea gulls and sand pipers. You lay back and take in the stars, the wind, and the waves in this pregnant dawn. Movement as prayer comes into you and for the next few hours, as the loving sun arises and warms you, your whole body wordlessly communes with the mother you came from.

2025 will invite us all into deeper intrinsic resourcing. We need to be with ourselves; listen, attune, empty out and cultivate our unique frequency of presence. Many of us feel the hunger of evolution bearing down, raw and demanding. We are peeling off the identities of past selves, no longer relevant in this space of suspension and transition. We are collectively in the space between an old paradigm and a new one birthing.

Continuum offers solace, inspiries curiosity, lands us in deeptime langauge of sound and movement. Here, we listen, we feel our way through uncertainty, we discover a greater womb of consciousness in which to gestate. Gel and sol, form and formless. We open to mystery, to magic, to imaginal scapes and multi-realms.

The intention of this series is simple. To support your personal exploration and cultivate consistency in your practice. Once a month, February through July, I will make a video laying out a dive. These dives will be inspired and influenced by the field, by astrological and cosmic influences, by what is arriving, current and relevant in that time. They will arrive in your inbox on the first of the month, a link to the video and written dive instructions. The invitation is to work with this dive through the month, share with me if you like via email or audio recording, which I will share with the other participants.

Our future dawns before our eyes and our hearts. Together, we stand at a precipice; a world dissolving as a new world is being born. In this liminal portal, we find ourselves making our way out of a familiar and known orientation and into a new and unknown orientation. For many of us, this is a confusing and terrifying gauntlet of change. How do we shift from resistance and rigidity to flow and flexibility, from the predictable and mechanistic to the unpredictable and metamorphic? We are all participants in this creation of what is to be.

I offer guidance through the overwhelm of our ever-complexifying life experience into a centered alignment within yourself. Discovering and reinforcing this alignment shifts the overwhelm into flow and resilience. Learning to move in and through the dynamic range of changes and unexpected situations that arise creates the pathway for dancing with unpredictable outcomes. As a personal way-shower, I support you in reinforcing and anchoring the deep midline of one’s true self to clear out and parse through the old and outdated, creating space for the next and new. Together, we unveil the potential to allow for context regeneration, inviting in fierce grace for each moment of life.

I mentor the you buried under by cultural demands and identity constructs that no longer serve. This threshold phase of expansion and acceleration is a golden window of opportunity for re-worthing and re-valuing your personal gifts, talents, passions and strengths as a course correct into authentic expression as well as being of service to our larger collective. I guide and support the growing bud of innate intuition emerging from your essential self.
